Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  • Hair Length: Make sure your hair is the appropriate length for waxing. Typically, hair should be about a quarter to a half-inch long for best results. If it’s too short, the wax may not adhere properly, and if it’s too long, it can be more painful.
  • Exfoliate: Exfoliating the area to be waxed a day or two before your appointment can help remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. However, avoid exfoliating immediately before your appointment, as this can make your skin more sensitive.
  • Hygiene: It’s essential to keep the area clean before your waxing appointment. Shower or bathe on the day of your appointment, and avoid using any lotions, oils, or creams on the area to be waxed. Clean, dry skin will allow the wax to adhere better.
  • Pain Management: If you’re concerned about discomfort during the waxing process, you can take an over-the-counter pain reliever like ibuprofen about 30 minutes before your appointment. This can help reduce any pain or inflammation.
  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Try to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 24 to 48 hours before your waxing appointment. Sunburned or tanned skin is more sensitive and can be more prone to irritation from waxing.
  • Trimming: If your hair is excessively long, you may need to trim it before your appointment. However, be careful not to trim it too short, as mentioned earlier.
  • Heat Treatments: Avoid heat treatments, sauna, exercise on the day of treatment.
  • Facial Waxing: Do not use retinols, Glycolic Acid, AHA’s 7 days prior to waxing. Avoid advanced Facial treatments such as microdermabrasion, IPL, facial peels, microneedling, injectable treatments within 2 weeks prior to treatment (some may require a longer wait time) If you are in any doubt please do get in touch prior to treatment to discuss with our team.

Hair grows within a 4 to 6 weeks cycle so booking with this frequency will help.

When you go for a bikini wax, it’s essential to wear something comfortable and practical that allows easy access to the area being waxed. Here are some suggestions for what to wear:

  • Loose Clothing: Opt for loose-fitting clothing that won’t rub against or irritate your freshly waxed skin. Loose cotton pants, a skirt, or a loose dress are good options. Avoid tight-fitting clothing, especially tight underwear, as they can cause friction and discomfort
  • Dark or Disposable Underwear: Some people prefer to wear dark-colored or disposable underwear to their waxing appointment to avoid staining lighter-colored underwear with any residual wax or oil. Additionally, disposable underwear can be convenient if you prefer not to wear your own underwear during the treatment.
  • Hollywood & Brazilian Waxing: We will require the removal of underwear however your therapist will use a courtesy towel and will only uncover the area we are working on at one time. Your dignity will be respected throughout the whole treatment and do bear in mind our team do this all day and want to provide a quick and effective treatment always.

Everyone’s pain threshold differs however we are professionals that have perfected the art of waxing to perform it in an efficient manner. As your journey with waxing continues the number and thickness of hair can diminish.
